Did you know that Tableau has an option to explain the data point in your Tableau Workbook?
In my below workbook example containing data from the Sample Super Store Data set I have a scatter graph containing sales data by state. (The public link is here if you want to download it.)
I have selected the Ohio point in the sales worksheet.
I went to the Analysis menu and selected Explain Data...
Tableau will provide an synopsis of the data point you selected as shown below;
This is a nice feature as it breaks down a possible reason for any higher values. It also displays the averages for this selected metric so you can explore your data further.
