Removing the Blue Highlight in a KPI Worksheet

In a previous blog post here. I discussed several ways of removing a blue highlight when you have a Text KPI worksheet. In the second method, I discuss changing the Text Marks type to a Shape and using a Blank shape. However, this does not remove the option to highlight the text.

As you can see in the image below, you can still select the text with this method applied.

In order to fix this you will need to create the Calculated field below and place it on the Detail Marks card of this sheet.

Then on your dashboard, you need to add a Highlight action from the Dashboard menu. It's really a No Highlight action!

You will need to pick the Selected Fields option under Target Highlighting and select this Dummy calculated field.

This will now disable the highlighting of the text on the dashboard. You can see this highlight action applied on the Advanced view of my Tableau Public dashboard here.
