What is Tableau's Measure Names / Measure Values fields? If you are a beginner user, you may have noticed this field in your data pane. What does it do? In this blog, I provide four charts that were created with these fields.
If you look at Tableau's help article regarding this here,it shows you that you can have multiple measures in a view. A measure is anything you can aggregate.

This view can give you an overall summary of your data.
But is there any way to use this function to make interesting charts?
Gradient Bar Charts
In a past blog post here I show you how to create a gradient rounded bar chart using Measure Names / Measure Values.

Bollinger Bands
This chart is also found in my World of Charts dashboard for download here.
It is located on the distribution dashboard. I used the Measure Names / Measure values option to create this. I watched a YouTube video by Alexandru Stancescu from BTProvider in order to create this.

Diverging Stacked Bar
I first saw this chart in Andy Kriebel's Visual Vocabulary here. It is also in my World of charts dashboard that you can download if you want to see how it is configured.

Enclosed Dot Plot
I learned how to create an Enclosed Dot Plot by a Workout Wednesday video by Sean Miller. I have this chart in my Tableau Public dashboard here

Check out the linked blog posts below for more information on these charts!
